The $99 is going toward something very exciting: not having Windows users get scared off by a big red “untrusted developer” warning. 🙃

That warning pops up because the installer isn’t digitally signed by a premium Microsoft partner. As an independent developer, getting one of those certificates is surprisingly expensive and annoying. Starting at $600 per year, possibly up to $1200 after all the fees and hardware from providers like SSL.com.

On the bright side, the Apple version is already fully notarized and verified, thanks to the Apple Developer Program!
